I Built It Ages Ago and Never Said a Word — Yes, There's a Bookmark Navigation Page

The other day, someone in the group chat said something that stopped me cold:

"You have a bookmark navigation page? I had no idea."

Honestly, this kind of feedback is both heartwarming and heartbreaking.

Heartwarming because it means people would actually use it if they knew about it. Heartbreaking because — it's been there for a long time, and somehow people still don't know about it.

So today I'm writing this to make sure everyone knows what's available.

🧭 So What Exactly Is This Bookmark Navigation Page?

Put simply, it's a place to view your bookmarks outside the browser.

You don't need to open your browser's built-in bookmark manager or dig through folders across multiple devices. Just open the navigation page and all your bookmarks are laid out in a clean grid, organized by folder, at a glance.

You might ask: what's the difference from the browser's bookmark manager?

A big one.

When you use your browser's bookmark manager, you can only see bookmarks on that one device. Switch computers, switch browsers — they're gone. But the bookmarks on the navigation page are synced to the UniSync server, so you can view them on any device after logging in.

The navigation page also supports:

  • Grid/tree dual view — thumbnails or list, your call
  • Pinyin search — can't remember the name? Just type the first letter
  • Browsing history — see which bookmarks you've visited recently

📲 How to Get There — Two Clicks from the Extension

The easiest way is straight from the browser extension.

Open the UniSync popup, switch to the "My Shares" tab, click "Go Share" — it'll take you right to the navigation page.

Or just open it in your browser:

https://share.ithuajiao.site

Log in with your UniSync account and all your bookmarks are right there.

🔗 Here's the Real Deal: Bookmark Sharing

The navigation page isn't just for browsing — sharing is where it really shines.

You can select one or more bookmarks (or even entire folders), generate a share link, and send it to anyone.

Three simple steps:

  1. Check the bookmarks you want to share on the navigation page cards
  2. The share bar pops up at the bottom — click "Create Share"
  3. Set a title, optional password, optional expiration time

Once the link is generated, send it to anyone. They open it and see your shared bookmark list. No account required on their end.

🔐 Password Protection & Expiration

The biggest concern with sharing links is security. So we built in two layers of protection:

Password When creating a share, you can set a password. Anyone opening the link needs to enter the correct password before they can see the bookmarks. And after 5 wrong attempts, the link locks for 15 minutes — brute force protection built right in.

Expiration Shares don't have to be forever. You can choose 1 hour, 6 hours, 12 hours, 1 day, 3 days, 7 days, or 30 days — after that, the link expires and no one can open it.

Put these two together, and sharing a batch of bookmarks with colleagues or friends is both convenient and secure.

Of course, if you're sharing something that doesn't need protection, leave both fields empty and send a public link. Simple as that.

💡 When Would You Use This?

Here's how I use it day to day:

Share resources with colleagues Found a bunch of useful dev docs and tools? Check them, generate a link, toss it in Slack. Done.

Share常用网站 with family Set up a folder with the sites your parents actually use (banking, news, shopping), create a permanent share link. They bookmark it and they're set.

Cross-device temp access See an interesting article at work but want to read it at home? Share it to yourself with a 6-hour expiration, open it on your home device.

💬 A Few Words

Honestly, a lot of features get built and we think "this is obvious, everyone will find it." But users genuinely don't know about them.

That's not the user's fault. It's on us — we didn't communicate it well enough.

Going forward, we'll make a point of talking more about features, big and small. And please, keep asking questions in the group — every question you ask might help someone else who had the same one.

The navigation page and sharing features have been running for a long time. They're stable. Give them a try — you might be surprised.
