The bookmark navigation page has been live for a while now. But lately one question keeps coming up:

"So what's the address of your navigation page again? I can't remember it."

It sounds like a joke, but it is a genuine problem. Tool domains are usually assembled from a product name and a vendor suffix. Opening it once in a while is fine. But if you open it every day, or you need to send it to a colleague, a family member, or a client, that address becomes a burden.

So we built custom domains: send us your domain or subdomain, add one DNS record, and you can reach your own bookmarks at something like bookmarks.yourname.com. If you already own a domain, the whole thing takes a minute or two.

What a custom domain actually solves​

Easier to remember. yourdomain.com/bookmarks or bookmarks.yourname.com is far shorter and far smoother than a long tool domain. When you type an address often, "shorter" is real, measurable efficiency.

More professional. When you send your bookmark navigation site to a colleague or a client, an independent domain reads as a proper site rather than "some page inside some tool." That is not vanity — it is someone's first impression of you.

Consistent branding. A domain is your address on the web. If you already have a personal blog, a portfolio, or a team site, folding your bookmark navigation page under the same domain keeps every entry point unified and easy to find.

Migration-proof. No matter how the backend services are upgraded, how APIs are adjusted, or how link rules change, the domain you shared stays the same. The way in stays the same.

A real scenario​

Here is my own example.

At home I saved a batch of developer documentation. At the office I saved a batch of client materials. On my phone there is a pile of "read later" links. Finding those links across devices used to mean: open the navigation page, log in, dig through folders. It worked, but every single time I first had to recall that long address.

After binding a custom domain, I type a few letters into the address bar and hit enter. Once the habit forms, that entry point stops feeling like "a feature" and starts feeling like "a place that is mine."

For anyone who shares the results of their bookmark cleanup, the difference is even clearer: what you hand over is bookmarks.yourname.com. The other person opens it and sees the list. No explaining, no "copy this, sorry it's long."

Bind a custom domain in two steps​

There are only two things to do: send me the domain, then add one DNS record. If you already own a domain, this is the same routine you do whenever you add a record — a minute or two at most.

Step 1: Send me the domain or subdomain​

Tell me which domain you want to use:

bookmarks.yourname.com
nav.yourname.com
links.yourname.com

A subdomain is the recommended option: it does not disturb the main site or your email on that domain, it needs no extra setup, and you can switch it later.

I will prepare the exact DNS record for you (record type, host, and value). You just copy it.

If you do not own a domain yet, register one with any registrar first. That part is unrelated to the binding itself — once you have one, just follow the steps below.

Step 2: Add one DNS record​

In your domain's DNS control panel, add one record using the values I send you. There is nothing else to configure, and you do not need to touch any existing records.

Once that is done, tell me and I will complete the server-side binding and run an access check. Propagation usually takes a few minutes, depending on your registrar, and may lag a little longer. After that, you can open your bookmark navigation page directly through your own domain.

Your existing tool-domain access will keep working. Both entry points can be used at the same time. You can try the new domain for a while and only retire the old address once you are confident it is stable.

How to apply​

Send an email to support@ithuajiao.site with the domain you want to use:

  • the domain or subdomain you want to bind (for example bookmarks.yourname.com) — this is the only thing you must provide;
  • optionally, your username or bookmark account so I can match it to the right account.

I will send you the matching DNS record. Copy that one record, reply to let me know, and I will handle the server-side binding and verification.

Things to keep in mind​

  • You only need DNS control over the domain — no domain expertise, and no changes to existing records.
  • After the binding is done, verify that the home page, the bookmark list, and search all open normally.
  • A custom domain changes the access entry point only. It does not change your bookmark data. Your synced bookmarks, folder structure, and existing share links are unaffected.
  • The original tool domain keeps working. Both entry points remain available at the same time, so old links will not break.
  • This service is currently free. If that changes, you will be notified in advance by email and in our announcements — a domain you are already using will not be cut off without warning.

Frequently asked questions​

Do I have to register a new domain?​

No. If you already own a domain, a subdomain is enough. It costs nothing and does not affect your existing website or email.

Can I bind an apex domain?​

Apex domains and subdomains both work, but a subdomain is usually recommended: one record is all it takes, and it does not interfere with anything already running on the apex domain. We can discuss the specifics over email.

Will the original address still work after binding?​

Yes. A custom domain only adds a new entry point. The original tool domain remains valid, and both show exactly the same data.

Is there an extra fee?​

Not at the moment. Custom domains are currently free.

Do I need to configure servers or certificates myself?​

No. You add one DNS record. I handle the server-side binding and the access check.

How long does DNS take to take effect?​

Usually a few minutes, depending on your registrar and regional caching — occasionally a little longer. If nothing happens, send me the domain and I will check it for you.

Final thoughts​

A custom domain looks like a nice-to-have. But anyone who opens their bookmark navigation page every day understands the point: the simpler the entry point, the more you actually use it — and the bookmarks you organized finally get used, too.
